About me

Hey, I'm Kate.

I am a web editing mother-of-two who lives in Auckland. I live with my boyfriend Ben and my two girls Mila and Juno, who split their time between us and their dad, Anton.

This blog is a challenge to myself, a tool to help me test out whether my dream of working from home could in fact become a reality. Here's the challenge: To stick at this blogging lark for a full year. To commit to writing regularly and to hopefully watch something I have full ownership of grow.

In the long run, I'd like to get the balance between work and home just right. I'd like to be able to pick my kids up from school and help out with activities as needed. I'd also like to use my writing and editing skills to their full potential writing about topics I am interested in.

What are these subjects you ask? Well... I'm a girl who loves pretty dresses, baking cakes, cats, dogs, rabbits, gardening, making it to concerts, having one too many wines with friends. I wish I read more books and watched less TV. I love movies, art and cooking.

I'll read a recipe book for fun, I'll scour the shelves of Savemart to ease stress. I dream of having kitchen shelves stocked with tonnes of ingredients from around the world and bathroom shelves laden with creams and make up I could spend hours playing with.

I get head colds way too often, live with a chronic inflammatory condition and recently decided to quit sugar to the best of my ability.

I love my girls; their spontaneity, warmth and joy has been the light that guided me through some of my darkest times. How I repay them for that gift I'll never know!
